Currently in the United States more than 80 million people are suffering from acid reflux. Many of them have turned to medication. This can be helpful but often has many unwanted side effects some being even worse than the original condition. Often though the medication is helping it still doesn’t alleviate the pain patients experience during the night wile attempting to sleep.

Fortunately there is a new form of treatment that is gaining in popularity to help ease the discomfort caused by acid reflux. It is called Positional Therapy. It is targeted to helping the patient during the night aiding them in sleeping which is usually the most uncomfortable and damaging time of the day for acid reflux relief
How It Works
Positional Therapy is simply changing the sleeping position of the patient by the use of a simple and comfortable device know as a “Bed Wedge” or “Foam Slant” pillow. It simply keeps the body in a slightly elevated position so that gravity can help hold the stomach fluids where they belong, in the stomach and not in the esophagus. This one simple change can drastically help people with acid reflux and as a bonus it also aids in relieving the symptoms of many breathing problems.
The Result
The result is a more restful healthy night of sleep without any medication. The Bed wedge can be used alone or in conjunction with other treatments. Always consult with your doctor to find out what is the best treatment for your individual case.
